The latest Google News article on the subject, which was shared on Twitter by a user who had retweeted the story from Google News, said the cowgirl hat was first created by British designer Jules Bissett in the 1930s and was made with “a combination of leather, wool and silk” as a form of fashion.
The hat is now a trademark of the American brand H&M.
“A lot of cowgirls are wearing this hat today, it’s not the first one, it is definitely a popular style,” the tweet said.
“If you have any questions, you can ask us in #cowshat on Twitter.”
Google News did not respond to a request for comment from The Associated Press.
A Google spokesperson said it would not comment on specific cases.
Cowgirl hat popularity has grown in recent years, with several fashion brands such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Gucci using cowgirl patterns.
The company, owned by Alphabet, is also a member of the Fashion Council of India.
It owns a large portfolio of brands including Levi’s, Gap, Levi’s and Adidas.
